960 2.5 exhaust/emission warning light

Went to work today & accidentally left ignition on all day & door open (on a farm so no security issues!). At 5.00pm went to go home - battery totally flat. Luckily farmyard on a steep hill, so freewheeled down hill and bump-started car. BUT exhaust emission warning light came on and has stayed on. Coincidence or a real problem ??

You don't say what year the car is. You either have an OBD unit under the bonnet on the N/S suspension turret, or one wher you have to plug in a reader. If you have the unit under the bonnet, try this: It should be the Motronic 1.8 system.

Hey Niloc, what's this SWV business butt? Sorry to correct your info, but it should be Motronic 4.4 as 2.5 Litre engine came in from 1995. He should start by resetting his OBDII to no fault condition. FAQ's may help with resetting task. All the best, Peter. :car-smiley-031:
