Volvo Guard problems

Hi. My 940 has Volvo Guard but I have to lock the car with a key rather than with the remote. When I use the remote, it locks and all is fine for a little while - but it stars hooting a flashing at me within a very short time. Sometimes just unlocking then relocking works, but as often as not it starts hooting and flashing again a few minutes later and I end up locking with the key. I've got the manual for this but it seems quite confusing. Is it possible to reset this, or is it wiser just to give up and resign myself to using the key?! Andrew

I was told this problem is likely due to a faulty relay. I have resigned myself to manual locking until I can be arsed to fix it!

Thanks for the info. Is it the sort of work my usual Volvo garage would undertake, or are there specialist alarm firms? I'd really like it up and running as I'm often carrying stuff around that I'd feel happier having alarmed... Thanks, Andrew

Hi, Given a local breaker close to you (or the usual suspects such as Salvo, Braydons or CP Motors etc) you could get a 2nd hand relay and fit it yourself and test the system. First step in sorting the issue... Des. . . ;))

Hi, Well, mine is a later 940 with, I assume VGII, so mine operates the alarm and locking of the car with the remotes. But the position of that relay/controller is the same for 940's and 960's/90's.. Des. . . ;)
