Hi there guys. Please help with some advise please. I have three issues that needs to be sorted, but need some advice on the best way forward. 1. My AC Compressor kick in and out about every 5-8 seconds. This is from the time I got the car. Since then the condensor was changed and later the compressor as well as the low and high pressure switches. All done by Volvo agents. probleme still there. This can surely not be right! 2. Cruse controll O.O.O. The ABS ECU done some time ago and still fine. Comes back to life every now and again just to die on me once more. Tell tale sign of a bad connection, but where. 3. When I refueled a few days ago, I reset my Trip counter and found that neither the trip nor the KM counter is working, Wat could be the cause of this. This is on a late 95, registered in 96 850 GLT 2.5. She has done 220K odd km's. Kind regards and thanks in advance !!

Yes it is. I am not sure weather the Volvo AC's work like this as it is like this from the day I got it. Hellofa irratating. These was the first switches I checked, both fine. Some time ago someone mentioned a dry conection arround the fuses/relay's. For the life of me I can not remember the detail.

Aircon. The normal operation of aircon on a Volvo is for the compressor to run for, say, 30 seconds to 2 minutes depending on ambient temperature and assuming the car is idling at rest. However, if it is very cold (say, 5deg) then the compressor can cycle at about the speed that you suggest. Other factors: - engine at idle speed will mean that the compressor runs for longer - if you are on the move then the cooling air into the condensor will reduce the time that the compressor has to run. - if the cabin fan speed is at max then the compressor will run for longer There are many factors. One way to be sure is to warm the cabin up and then put the ECC onto recirculate full cold. This means that the incoming air is at a reasonable temperature and putting more demand on compressor.

It then seems that the AC is opperating as it should. I know both the plungers/switches on the pedals are fine. tested them well. No leaks, contacks fine. How about the trip counter error ?

1/ low gas & or compressor clutch out of adjustment ( it should not always run cycles of 5-8 secs ) that would be ok for a low setting on a cold ish day, but on a warm day it should at least run for 30sec`s plus and on a hot day it should run for much longer and set on high - max it should run for much longer still. 2/ pedal sensors 3/ poss dry joint some where on the circuit board
