over the past several weeks mo (s60 mbs) has tried to get a meet arranged at sutton park, it was supposed to have gone ahead last weekend but didnt due to the lack of interest of forum members. i will admit that i couldnt make it, but what about everyone else? surely not everyone in the west mids was busy? as some of you know, we havent got a regional secretary. i was going to apply for this position, but if there is no interest in the west mids section whats the point? is anyone really interested in having a working west mids section? or is it that we just cant be bothered? havent we got any pride in our area? i would like to know whos genuinley interested in the west mids section! i would like to know who would commit themselves into going to local meets? regards cavey oh, id like all of the west mids members to answer this thread! ;)

OK here's the first answer...... I work away from home most of the week, so commiting to the meet is quite hard. Im also leaving the UK in the near future, if any one knows of a Sydney meet I might be able to make that :-) Having said that, and given the larger capacity engine choices out there, I might not even have Vovlo..... Good luck

Hi, Well, I have had some experience of this myself. :) I did actually turn up for the meet, but only a quick visit to Mo as I needed to see him anyway (delivery of cards etc). It is frustrating when lots of people show interest and enthusiasm in a meet in a particular area, but when push comes to shove, nobody can make it. Yes, people will have valid reasons for not being able to turn up, but no everyone?? It would help if people set a watch on the topic and replied asap when questions of date, time and location were being asked. And it would help that people committed to the day out with other parties (wife, partner, kids etc) so that there are no surprises about other arranging something else. It only takes a little commitment and all involved could enjoy a great day out, for themselves and family.. Des. . . ;)

Both meets ive been too found people fixing my car for free! The knowledge and helpfullness of people there was second to none! Roll on the next meet :D

OK Just got in tonight to see this thread. Being from the West MIds, Tipton to be precise I'd like to add my views on 'meets'. I think a meet is a great idea I said so in a previous thread. The problem is that arranging a meet which takes up a whole day or large part of a day is bound to cause conflicts of interests. If I were trying to arrange a meet I think i'd be more inclined to arrange the initial meets during a weekday evening, say 8pm at a local pub or eatery, thereby giving opportunity for all members of a family to enjoy the social side of the meet. If theres enough support for a meet like this then there could in time be more commitment for full day / weekend meets. This worked well in the Land Rover club i was in. Once a month a meet in a local on a Wednesday evening. Once a month or two have a maintenance weekend. Every couple of months a days drive out somewhere of interest, in convoy. Just my two penneth worth, maybe of some use to whoever wants to try and get things up and running.

I would love to attend local meetings, however weekends seem to be taken up with repair and maintenance of two Volvo's,the upkeep of gardens and allotment, one day I may find time to start work on my Jag'. Having said all that I still would like to attend a local meet now and then,I thought I would make Sutton, but Family commitments made a trip to Stourport top priority. She that must be obeyed is making redecoration noises,I only did it eight years ago!! Mike
